Welcome

The Milford is the latest incarnation and evolution of what is one of the oldest operating commercial buildings in the County.

Built in 1827 “The Milford” is housed in a piece of history.

The original salt box and general store operated for well over 150 years. In the early nineties the kitchen hood fan and bar were added and the old store became ” The Coffee Gallery” . Chef Michael Potters opened The Milford Bistro in ’98 with the help of the food network the rest is history. The Bistro instantly became a hit with the Toronto and Montreal folks summering in the county and Michael made the place famous. The Bistro has operated under a number of different owner operators and incarnations over the years, with a commitment to local fresh fare with creative delivery.

Michael Lavelle purchased the building and the Bistro in 2013 and in the summer of 2017 established “The Milford”, with the addition of a licensed patio and deck.

Scott and DJ Gregor invite you to enjoy the patio which features a smoker, BBQ and pizza oven.  Thursday wing night with smoked wings to-die-for!

We are proud to feature the best beer, wine and cider that The County has to offer.

Our patio is pet- and family-friendly and follows all health guidelines.

Docs Gallery  –  A first nations exhibit has hung since Lavelle bought the Bistro in 2011 and this year is featuring the original work of Frank Polson . Along the lines of Norval Morriseau, Frank’s woodland style has become popular all over the world and with over 2600 original pieces sold.  Showing in Mexico City. Germany, Belgium, Milford is lucky to have  collection on display.

Docs gallery is named after Lavelle‘s long time family friend Dr Paul Morgan who has one of the largest collections of first nations art anywhere. Dr Morgan has been involved with first nations communities since the 1960’s and was awarded “The Caring Canadian Award” for his work with first nations people. Doc can be found lounging in the dining room or on the patio from time to time in the summer months.
